The Pastoral Services department offers spiritual and emotional support to people of all faiths. Spiritual care for all of our patients, families and staff focuses on the spiritual aspects of wellness, illness, recovery, medical care, ethical decisions, dying and death. We approach the care of our patients from a holistic perspective—we believe the well-being of the patient may be helped through conversation, prayer, meditation, ritual, and spiritual care services. Our staff of chaplains is available as a resource for patients and their families during times of crisis, waiting, diagnosis and decision-making, in times of joy, pain and grief, in anxiety and fear, in searching for meaning and as a comforting presence. The Pastoral Services chaplains visit patients on a regular basis and are available 24 hours a day. They can be contacted through the nursing staff or by dialing 0 on a hospital phone and requesting a chaplain. Chaplains can provide one on one visitation, devotional materials, prayer and support, a listening ear and compassionate presence. The staff of the Pastoral Services department will be happy to contact an individual’s personal pastor or church family if requested. Roman Catholic Services: Mass is celebrated in the Saint Francis Chapel at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays and can be viewed in patient rooms on channel 19.
