Cancer Treatment Center

Being told you have cancer can bring fear, apprehension and uncertainty. It can be overwhelming as you seek out information about your condition, medical treatment options, and the many ways a cancer diagnosis affects your life.

The Saint Francis Cancer Treatment Center offers a multidisciplinary approach to care and a team dedicated to providing the best treatment for you. Our Cancer Treatment Center is a point of pride   for our organization and draws patients from across Nebraska and surrounding states. We have been recognized by the American College of Surgeons for the depth and breadth of services and our participation in clinical trials. We offer medical and radiation oncology treatment and a pharmacy all in one location, a convenience not typically found in other cancer centers. These services will support you and your family before, during and after treatment.

Person-Centered Care
At Saint Francis, we believe we are called to care for each patient as an individual – taking great care to understand each patient’s unique needs, concerns, and goals of treatment. We want you to fully participate in decisions about your treatment and we will provide you with information and education to help you make those choices. We want to address all aspects of your life and family to factor these things into the care that we give.

Cancer Rehab Team
The Cancer Rehabilitation program offers patients a team of health professionals who understand the many ways a cancer diagnosis affects your life. We offer nutritional counseling, physical and occupational and speech therapy, counseling for patients and families, spiritual guidance, and assistance with financial concerns and other needs so you can focus on your recovery. Our Cancer Rehab team is one of only a few in the nation, and is designed by patients. The team helps patients manage their disease and maintain or improve their quality of life.

Clinical Trials
Clinical research trials offer patients the newest and most effective treatments. Your oncologist will discuss with you whether you are an appropriate candidate for a trial available at the Cancer Treatment Center. With affiliations with the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center and the National Cancer Institute, our Cancer Treatment Center has access to many of the latest clinical research studies. The percentage of patients that we are able to enroll in clinical trials is higher than the national average. Saint Francis is participating in a National Cancer Institute pilot program that is developing a network of community cancer centers to expand research and deliver the latest, most advanced cancer care to people in the communities where they live.

Multidisciplinary Care
We are fortunate to have a great complement of medical services in the Grand Island community, where you can be supported by your family and friends. We work closely with your medical team, including your oncologist, primary care physician, surgeons, radiologists and other medical professionals to coordinate your cancer treatment. We are also able to work with other specialists across the state or country, if that is what your treatment calls for.
