Three named to Saint Francis Board of Directors

Grand Island, Neb. — Cathleen H. Allen; Sister Nadine Heimann, OSF; and Ellen L. Hornady; have been appointed as members of the Saint Francis Medical Center Board of Directors. They began serving three-year terms on July 1.

Allen is a partner, specializing in family law with Leininger, Smith Johnson, Baack, Placzek and Allen in Grand Island. She started with the firm as an associate attorney in 1989 and was named as a partner in 1994.

Allen graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in business administration with distinction in 1986. She graduated J.D. with high distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1989.

A member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and American Bar Association since 1989, Allen was also elected as a Fellow of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation in 2007. Her appointments and activities include: Hall County Merit Commission, Nebraska Supreme Court Commission on Children in the Court, Grand Island Education Foundation, YMCA Board of Directors and Women and the Law Section.

Heimann is currently serving as provincial/president of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Colorado Springs, Colo. She graduated from the University of Albuquerque in New Mexico in 1973 with a B.A. in Theology and Psychology and later earned a Masters degree in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College in 1985.

Hornady has vast experience serving as either a volunteer or board member for various non-profit organizations, including Hope Harbor, Grand Island Community Foundation, Vern and Esther Taylor Charitable Trust, Stolley Park Elementary School PTA, Junior Achievement, AOK Ladies, Riverside Golf Club, United Way, Grand Island Education Foundation, Leadership Tomorrow, Alpha Sigma Sorority’s Holiday Tour of Homes, Third City Community Clinic, Principal for a Day Program with Grand Island Public Schools and Parker Task Force Food Bank in Parker, Colo.

Hornady’s most recent professional work experience was working as a district human resources manager for Best Buy Co. in Arvada, Colo., from 1997-2001. She graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1991 and with a Masters in Health Services Administration in 1993.
