Holiday Parade of Gifts

Holiday Gift Parade

hgplogoweb

The Saint Francis Foundation is pleased to announce the annual fundraiser centered on bringing joy to others during the holiday season. The Holiday Gift Parade will feature creative gift baskets, beautiful wreaths and other holiday items donated by community organizations and individuals in a festive display at Saint Francis Medical Center. The parade items will be available to the highest bidder during an online silent auction from Nov. 7-13.

Donations of a gift basket, wreath or other items are tax-deductible and donors will receive an acknowledgement letter from the Foundation. Wreaths can be decorated for any season, holiday or theme. Gift baskets can be as creative as you like. The Holiday Gift Parade will be displayed in the tower lobby at Saint Francis Medical Center. Visitors are encouraged to come and view the display.

Donated Items:

Items need to be turned in to the Foundation before Oct. 30. The Foundation office is located at Saint Francis Medical Center at 2620 West Faidley Avenue in Grand Island and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Wreaths:

Wreaths are a donation to the Saint Francis Foundation and must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • No live greenery; no live grapevines; no tumbleweeds. Artificial greenery must be purchased new and be flame retardant.
  • Base of wreath can be from 12 - 36 inches in diameter.
  • If wreath is decorated with lights, the electrical cord must have the "UL Listed" tag on the cord.
  • Gift Baskets:

Gift baskets can be any size and value, with a minimum of $10. All baskets must be wrapped in tulle, cellophane or similar material and a list of all items in the basket must be attached to the outside.

    Bidding:

Online bidding will take place from Nov. 7 - 13. If you find the perfect gift, you can choose the "buy it now" option to purchase the item right away. High bids will be announced on the website on Nov. 14 and winners will be able to pick up their item that day. Items cannot be shipped and must be picked up.

All questions can be directed to the Saint Francis Foundation at (308) 398-5400.

    Funds support Project Care

Proceeds from the Holiday Gift Parade will support Project Care, a program at Saint Francis Medical Center that assists low-income families with a variety of non-hospital expenses they face in the event of illness or injury.

The funds, administered through our Social Work Department, pay for indirect medical needs such as:

    • Prescription assistance for someone recovering from an illness or injury, who has no other means to buy the medications they need.
    • Accommodations for family members at our Guest House so they can be close to their loved one, while they are a patient at the Medical Center (this is especially helpful for parents of a sick child).
    • Gasoline costs for a dismissed patient needing to travel to Lincoln or Omaha to see a specialist for follow-up care.
    • Purchasing over-the-counter supplies needed for a wound as prescribed by a physician or diabetic testing supplies.
    • Funds for a cab ride home for a patient who was taken to the hospital by ambulance and has no way to return home.
