Cafeteria Concierge
Volunteers assist dietary staff during the busy lunch hour by stocking condiment bars and trays, assisting customer with trays to their tables and wiping tables.

Cancer Treatment Center
Volunteers in the Cancer Treatment Center greet patients, serve lunches, help with clerical duties and assist staff by weighing patients and taking their temperatures.

Chemical Dependency Treatment
Volunteers in our Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center give presentations to patients receiving treatment. To be a volunteer in this area, one must be active in a 12-step program.

Clerical
Volunteers assist various hospital departments with clerical duties such as typing, filing and opening mail.

Escorts
Volunteers escorting patients and family members from registration to clinical areas. They also offer coffee and warm smiles to those waiting in the surgery lounge.

Foster Grandparents
Brought to us by the Hall County Foster Grandparent Program, "grandparents" assist with the care of children in Pediatrics and the Saint Francis Daycare.

Greeter
Volunteers greet patients and guests and escort them to all areas of the Medical Center. They give directions and assist staff by delivering items to internal departments.  

Hospice
These special volunteers work with patients who have a limited life expectancy and their families. Volunteers are given special training and have monthly support meetings.

Intensive Care Family Lounge
Volunteers serve as hosts to families of patients in intensive care. They serve coffee and help out by listening and helping families during a very stressful time.

Joint Replacement Center
Volunteers assist staff to set up and serve celebration meals for patients and family in the Joint Replacement Center.

Knitting/Crocheting/Sewing
Every newborn at Saint Francis receives a handmade hat made by volunteers with a tag Reading "Made with Tender Loving Care by Saint Francis Volunteers." Lap robes, shrugs and baby blankets are other projects hand made by volunteers.

Lifeline
Volunteers assist in testing and installing Lifeline emergency response units that are used to call for help in case of a fall or life-threatening situation.

Magazine Cart
Magazines are offered to patients every day for their reading pleasure.

Mail Delivery
Patient mail is delivered each day. Volunteers help patients open mail if needed and may also offer to read cards or letters to patients.

Pastoral Services
Working closely with the Pastoral Services department, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist bring Holy Communion to Catholic patients. Other opportunities may be available, depending on one's education, previous experience and endorsement from his or her church. Call (308) 398-5571 for details.

Skilled Care
Volunteers help patients with recreational like crafts, playing cards, visits or take patients for strolls in their wheelchairs. Volunteers can also share their musical talents.

Special Projects
Volunteers assist with special hospital projects such as registrations at health clinics or preparing bulk mailings.

Stock Tech
Assist nursing staff with stocking patient rooms with supplies after a patient's dismissal.

Visiting Ours Gift Shop
Gift shop volunteers assist with the selection of gifts or personal items, tend the cash register, wrap and deliver gifts. Proceeds from the gift shop are allocated by the Auxiliary Board for patient care. Visiting Ours is generally open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on the weekends.
